Care

Wood

Wood is a living material. It breathes, adapts, and ages with its surroundings. At 1919, we use noble woods like ebony, walnut, oak, and mahogany—each with its own grain, knots, and variations that make every piece one of a kind.

To care for it:
• Dust with a dry or slightly damp cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals.
• Keep away from direct sunlight, humidity, and heat sources.
• Wipe spills immediately to prevent permanent stains.
• Avoid placing hot or metal objects directly on the surface.

Steel and Metals

Steel surfaces are intended for indoor use and naturally respond to their environment. They may subtly evolve over time, developing character with age.
We recommend:
• Clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
• Avoid solvents, alcohol, or abrasive materials.
• If the surface becomes dull, it may be treated with a suitable restorative oil, upon request.

Stone

Stone each stone surface is unique and requires gentle care.
We recommend:
• Wipe with a damp cloth, avoiding aggressive chemicals.
• Dry immediately to prevent stains from liquids like coffee or wine.
• Do not use ammonia- or acid-based products.

Leather

The leather we use is selected to age with elegance.
To take care:
• Wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
• Keep away from direct sunlight and prolonged moisture.
• Avoid liquid cleaners or chemical products.
Each material in a 1919 piece has its own character. Caring for it with intention is part of allowing it to live, evolve, and last.
